BAKE AND SHARK ANYONE?
It’s Summertime! Do you know what that means? It’s time to go to the Caribbean, lay on the beach and eat some spicy food and sip on rum punch. Safe travels to those of you who are going on vacation this summer but for those of you who are on a staycation like me, no worries, Pearls Caribbean Restaurant will make you feel like you have been instantly transported to the Caribbean.
Pearls is nestled in Williamsburg, Brooklyn right down the block from the L train and serve some of the best Caribbean food in New York City. You will find traditional Caribbean food such as Accra, plantains, roti and curry goat on the menu along with a nice selection of tropical cocktails. My recommendation, the bake and shark.
Bake and shark is a traditional Trinidadian dish. Bake is a type of fried bread that is soft, flaky and absolutely delicious! The shark meat is seasoned with Trinidadian spices and the combination of the two is mouthwatering. It is served with pickled slaw and mango chutney. Yum! My Trinidadian roots were not disappointed.
If you really want to feel like you are on a tropical vacation, get your bake and shark to go, grab a glass of sorrel and head to the nearest beach!
