Chery’s Global Soul – Bites Before The Brooklyn Museum

I know I can always find exactly what I’m looking for in Brooklyn. On Thursday, I took a trip to the Brooklyn Museum for a crash course in feminist art history. The Brooklyn Museum is one of my favorite spots because there’s always something interesting going on there. In addition, with the assistance of Google, I know I can always find an inexpensive restaurant to try nearby. This time, Google pointed me to Cheryl’s Global Soul located on 236 Underhill Avenue, steps away from the Brooklyn Museum.

Cheryl’s is a small, quaint restaurant perfect for a quick fuel up before tackling the Museum. They have great entrees and appetizers, all priced around ten to fifteen bucks. And happy hour drinks are only 5 bucks. I ordered their Winter Breeze cocktail which is made with vodka and lemonade and the fried calamari with plum sauce appetizer. The Winter Breeze was pretty tasty. It was like having fresh squeezed lemonade with a little kick. The calamari was delicious. It was fresh and crispy and not soft and soggy. It was also perfectly seasoned and not salty. The plum sauce was simply the icing on the cake.

I will definitely return to Cheryl’s, and next time I will try their brunch!
